It has been reported that a bus has gone on fire in County Clare this evening. The vehicle was completing its service run from Mallow Street, Limerick to Ardnacrusha County Clare. On it's return journey the driver noticed a fire at the back of the vehicle. He managed to escape and call the emergency services.

Reports state that there was no passengers on board when the incident took place however Bus Eireann confirmed that it had been carrying up to 35 passengers, some of which were school children.

It is beleieved that the fire may have started in the engine and an investigation is underway.
